Themed rooms when done right can be mesmerizing and playful. But it can often feel dated or restrictive. One way to find the balance is to limit the trendy or themed elements to accents. For example, accessories, peel and stick wallpaper, some textile, and so on. In the case of color palette, lighting, furniture choose more classic options such as pastels, earth tones, wood finish, metal accents, etc.

Controlling the light, temperature and sound in the nursery will help you maintain your child’s sleep schedule and create a relaxing atmosphere. Blinds, shutters, heavy curtains will allow you to block daylight when needed. Thick rugs, carpeting and drapes absorb external noise. When it comes to child-proofing the room, opt for soft and cozy textiles, avoid rough edges, minimize pieces that need to be hung, etc.
